Baptism is a part of the plan of salvation
In scripture and in history of the Church we can see that the only way to be baptized is in Jesus Name.
“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” Galatians 3:27
In history we see that every New Testament Church was established by those who repented, and we’re baptized in Jesus name,
“For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:13
Being baptized in Jesus Name is in fact a part of the Plan of Salvation.
“Jesus answered, most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” John 3:5
“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” Mark 16:16
Baptism remits sin, gives you power and refreshing
How would you like your past sins to be tossed into the sea of forgetfulness? As sins are remitted through baptism, you receive power and refreshing in your life. This power comes from the gift of the Holy Spirit as described in Acts 2:38:
“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Receiving this gift from God opens the door for us to experience His presence like we have never known before. It is His presence, obtained through baptism and remission of sins that brings refreshing.
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19
Baptism in Jesus name gives you authority
In Acts 4:7-10 we see that “in the name of” means “in authority of”- there is power and authority when we baptize “In the name of Jesus”. When we say “in the name of Jesus” and experience full submersion baptism, things that once caused anxiety and stress, will become more manageable.
We are able to find peace in our daily lives. Knowing the power and authority that comes from the name of Jesus now becomes a part of who you are. Using the power of His name becomes a tool, a weapon, a comfort!
Baptism births a new person
When sins are washed away as you are baptized in “the name of Jesus”, your past is also washed away. Being fully submerged in the water is a symbol of you putting your old self to death. When you come up out of the water you are a NEW PERSON. Your old self is officially put under the blood of Jesus.
Think of it this way, anything you have ever done, said, or thought about, is no longer on your record. Jesus pulls out a brand new slate, just for you.
What should we do after we have DECIDED to be baptized
Repent and talk personally with God. Ask him to forgive you for your past mistakes. He is faithful and just to do so! Repentance is a change of heart, so when we repent with our whole heart, it will change our thinking and will produce outward changes. (Joel 2:12-13)
When we talk with God, acknowledge our sins, and turn from our old ways, that is when we come to a full repentance.
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
You have no sin? Not possible. In 1 John: 8-10 it is clear:
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”
Find a church that will support and encourage you in your new walk with God. Living a new life dedicated onto the Lord takes teaching, discipline and encouragement. The church body at True Life Church is not only supportive but we pray and hold each other up during times of weakness. We celebrate with each other as we experience victories in our lives and we will cry with you during times of sorrow.
Will you accept the challenge?
The decision to be baptized in the name of Jesus is clearly what we must do if we want to go to heaven. We must repent, be baptized, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in other tongues and live a holy life.
We challenge you to take the first step to having a fresh start in life. A life where past mistakes are forgotten and new experiences are unfathomable. A life touched and anointed by God, filled with power, peace and daily refreshing. A decision to be baptized will bring you a new story and an eternity of joy.
I have decided, have you?
