Continuation of The Tabernacle Series – The Laver
Have you ever had something on your face only you didn’t know it was there until you looked into a mirror? The only way to get rid of what is on your face is to first be made aware of it. We can’t change what is wrong with us unless we are made aware of it.
Focus Verse: “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: You shall also make a laver of bronze, with its base also of bronze, for washing. You shall put it between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. And you shall put water in it, for Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet in water from it. When they go into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the Lord, they shall wash with water, lest they die. Exodus 30:17-21
Wash us with your Word
Like the mirror that shows imperfections with our reflection, so was the laver to the priest as they entered the tabernacle. The Laver was a wash basin placed out in the Courtyard of the Tabernacle between the Altar of Burnt Offering and the door of the Tabernacle.
Part of the purifying process required priests to wash their hands and feet in the laver. When they did this, they were confronted with their reflection. Every thought and intension in the heart was revealed. This purifying process prompted change through awareness of the conviction to repent, therefore allowing them to enter the Holy Place.
To experience change in our lives today we must also go through a purifying process. God has given his word to us to aid in the purifying process. His word has cleansing power. By reading the word, light is shed on the sin in our lives.
Purify and experience revival in your life through:
A day of correction
You may be afraid to have areas in your life exposed. Often seeing flaws can make us uncomfortable. Many choose not to confront their flaws, doing whatever they can to keep them hidden. You can be different! Today can be your day of correction! Let God’s word expose the purposes of your heart. Let its power get to the root of what is ruling in your life. Find joy by allowing the word of God to fix your life. Purify your life by shining light on areas you need to change.
Lord help me get my tabernacle in order. Purify my life by allowing a fresh desire of the word of God to open my eyes to areas that need to be changed. Let your word be a reflection of how I want to live my life. I pray for the Holy Spirit to dwell in me so my faith becomes so strong that I shift my desires from the word to desires of your Kingdom. Wash my mind, attitude, vocabulary, idols in my life and allow the word of God to cleanse me and make me whole.
